The selected chemical peel will be applied to your face for an appropriate amount of time and then it will be removed.
The recovery time depends on the type of chemical peel you've had. It can take a couple of weeks before you can resume normal activities after a medium or deep peel and even after this time your skin may still be quite red.
We will give you careful instructions on caring for your skin as it heals, and it is important that you follow these carefully to minimise the risk of complications. You will need to wear sunblock while your skin recovers to avoid developing a blotchy or uneven complexion.
There are various types of chemical peels - Superficial, Lactic Chemical Peels, Glycolic and BHA (medium) - and they achieve different results.
Superficial chemical peels are easy to apply and the time needed for healing is minimal.
Lactic chemical peels are used on more mature skin types for their hydrating and nourishing approach to peeling. These are very good for fine/medium wrinkles and lines.
BHA (medium peels) are used mainly on the thicker, acne prone, acne scarred, pigmented, clogged, oily sebaceous skin types. This peel will achieve a great level of exfoliation.
Glycolic peels are used on any skin type or condition. They are good for thicker clogged skin types, mottled pigmentation and fine wrinkles. Glycolics encourage lazy skin to produce more collagen giving a plumping effect on wrinkles. They work well for rosacea sufferers by diffusing redness.
We will advise you on the most suitable peel for your skin.
